I love the green color on the mercier. but I'm starting to like the "galvanized" look of that swobo. The swobo is a better bike but also about 100 more than the mercier. I don't mind paying more now if it means less repairs later and a longer life.
I definitely want drop handlebars and that's my only real complaint about the look of the swobo. and I can get different handlebars no problem
they're both fixed gear single-speeds and super light weight.
BUT the Swobo Rear hub can be flipped if I want to run a single-speed freewheel which is a neat option
another cool thing i may or may not use is under the saddle for the swobo is a built in bottle opener
tomorrow I'm gonna try to get to the bike shop and check em out
can i get some opinions?

Good luck in your decision. I have never had the guts to ride a fixie. Sandon says, "Have you looked into Surly?"
You might as well be talking giberish to me. Based o my lack of expertise I say GO FOR THE PRETTY GREEN ONE!!
Hi Ali,
Uncle Steve here, the bike is a cool idea. But be careful on the road, cars and bikes don't mix very well.
Have you guys (ya'll) jammed at Ralphs lately? When you do please video and blog some of it. I really miss those jam sessions with the Freeman Family Band!
Hey Alex!
I'm with Michele on this one...The Pretty Green One Looks Good!...Be sure to get a sturdy lock for it though. Good Luck!
On the mercier...
It used to be a really good name that made awewome bikes, but recently the company was bought over. They use the name for its popularity and reputation, but the bikes that they make now are not very good. They are also cheaper now, which is part of the draw. Unfortunately since they are cheaper, the parts won't last as long and you're gonna see people with them all over town because they are affordable.
If you buy the swobo, you will be spending about $100 more out of pocket than you would pay for the Kilo TT, but the retail value is actually much greater than that. You wont see as many people with a bike as nice as the Sanchez around because kids aren't shelling out the kind of cash that it would cost them (not you) to get it. You're getting a much better value spending $470 on the $650 bike than spending $375 on a bike at retail that will never hold its value. Also, the parts on the Sanchez will be much more resilient. Furthermore, if there's ever a time that you want to sell the bike, it will be easy to find happy buyers on craigslist, etc. because it's a really good name.
On the color:
You'll likely get tired of the color of your bike. It could take months or years, but at some point you won't be so crazy about the color, especially when you see other people with the same bike and same color. Think of it like those newer style volkswagen bugs that came out in that cool sparkly lime green. It got old when you saw it everywhere. It might be to your advantage to get the galvanized metal bike and just dress it up with things that you can change out occasionally like cool looking tires or different colored wrap tape for the handlebars that you're going to buy.
Get the swobo. Several years from now it will still be a great bike and you won't be sick of it. Your friends will surely be jealous of such a nice bike. Just remember that even though the price difference just seems like $100 bucks, you may not have the opportunity again to buy a $600+ dollar bike for less than $400.
Ok disregard my last comment, I'm with LoRen on this one
and if you want we can paint the swobo pretty green....then when you get sick of green we can paint it again!!
*correction
for less than $500.
